• Celebrating 50th anniversary of Apollo 11 moon landing

    moon landingMan first landed on the moon on July 20, 1969 — and the Atlantic City Free Public Library will commemorate the 50th anniversary of that historic Apollo 11 flight.
    On Saturday, July 20, the library will play the live CBS coverage, anchored by Walter Cronkite, of the Apollo 11 moon landing. The 42-minute video will be shown on the Main Library’s first floor and played on a loop throughout the day. Click here to read more about the library's plans to celebrate the anniversary.
  • Main Library to host Civil Rights
    in South Jersey exhibit in July

    Civil rightsThe African American Heritage Museum of Southern New Jersey has brought its exhibit “A Time for Change: Civil Rights in South Jersey” to the Main Library. The exhibit will be located on the Main Library’s first floor throughout the month of July and can be viewed during normal library hours of operation. The exhibit is a series of freestanding panels with images and text chronicling some of the key events and personalities that helped define New Jersey’s role in the Civil Rights Movement.     prizes; register by July 23

    Universe of StoriesThe Atlantic City Free Public Library is holding an Adult Summer Reading Challenge, and the theme is “A Universe of Stories.” Participants can win prizes for reading books, writing reviews, and attending library programs.     Steel PierThe Atlantic City Public Library will begin its Summer Reading Program for children and teens with a kickoff party Tuesday, June 25, at 2 p.m. at Main Library.
