Atlantic City Free Public Library

If you have a passion for discussing and learning about films, we invite you to join the Atlantic City Free Public Library Film Society. Membership is free and open to Library cardholders in good standing, who are 18 years of age and older. Monthly screenings and discussions will be held on Saturday afternoons, and monthly tutorial classes on filmmaking and film history will be held on Monday evenings.
Meetings are conducted by Theresa Hawkins, Film Society Coordinator


Saturday, Sept. 11
1 - 4 pm

Screening & Discussion

View & discuss a 1989 biopic about the 1986 assassination of Salvadorian Archbishop Oscar Romero. It stars Raul Julia and Richard Jordan. It is rated PG-13 and runs 102 minutes.

 

Monday, Sept. 13
5:30 - 7 pm

Classroom Session

Learn about biopics. This class will focus on the history and influence of the sub-genre of biographical films.

 


Saturday, Oct. 2
1 - 4 pm

Special Event

This meeting is open to current ACFPL Film Society members only. Advanced registration is required by Thurs., Sept. 23rd.

Screening & Discussion

View & discuss a 1939 gangster classic about the roaring twenties. It stars James Cagney & Humphrey Bogart and was directed by Raoul Walsh. It is not rated and runs 104 minutes.
