Hard Rock Hotel & Casino A.C. new sponsor of Third Thursday Concert Series

HRHC Atlantic City Logo 4C CMYK 1 croppedNot only is the Hard Rock Hotel & Casino Atlantic City Series bringing world-class entertainment to the resort, it is supporting the Atlantic City Free Public Library’s efforts to provide free music to the community.
The casino is the new sponsor of the library’s Third Thursday Concert Series — a free monthly music series held 5 p.m. at the Main Library on the third Thursday of each month from April through September.
“We’re thrilled to have Hard Rock Hotel & Casino here in the city and grateful for their support of our Third Thursday Series,” Library Director Robert Rynkiewicz said.
•    Martin Payne & Friends on April 19 – Longtime Atlantic City Free Public Library staff member Martin Payne and his band mates will pay tribute to Atlantic City jazz musicians Johnny Andrews, Chris Columbo, Harvey Mason and Hassan Abdullah. (View a clip from their performance).
Gina4•    The Mayes Duo on May 17 – Classical guitarists Joseph and Kathleen Mayes, who teach music at Rowan University, have recorded three CDs as the Mayes Duo. Both have enjoyed long musical careers as part of respected ensembles and as soloists. Along with 20th century classical guitars, their performances showcase instruments such as the terz guitar, renaissance lute and Neapolitan mandolin. (View a clip from their performance)
•    Polash Gomes and Abhik Mukherjee on June 21 – Polash Gomes founded the Rageshree Music Institute in 1991, a non-profit organization dedicated to preserving Indian classical music and presenting this art form through concerts and educational programs. Abhik Mukherjee is a sitar player and vocalist who has performed at the Dr. Martin Luther King Jr. Memorial, Metropolitan Museum of Art and internationally. (View a clip from their performance)
•    Gina Roche’ Duo on July 19 – The Gina Roche’ Duo will perform blues, jazz and original compositions with a Brazilian twist. (Roche' is pictured to the left).
•    Phyllis Chapell & Skipper Kripitz on Aug. 16 – Phyllis Chapell (vocals/guitar) and Skipper Kripitz (drums/percussion) will play a unique mix of jazz, world, pop, originals and folk music.
•    Tony Day and the Across the Globe Music Group on Sept. 20 – Jazz artist Tony Day, whose talents range from studio musician and band leader to composer and teacher, has performed on drums and percussion with many jazz recording artists and for headliner acts in Las Vegas and Atlantic City.
